In 2019, Kika Sprangers created the critically acclaimed programme No Man’s Land for the Grachtenfestival. At the invitation of TivoliVredenburg, Kika staged a revival a year later, featuring the strings of Pynarello and the rhythm section of Wolfert Brederode (piano), Thomas Pol (bass) and Jasper van Hulten (drums). As part of her new creative programme at TivoliVredenburg, Sprangers composed new, additional pieces for this revival, building on the themes of No Man’s Land: the position of women in the modern world. With the release of these recordings as a live album in 2021, Sprangers hoped to reach an even wider audience than the intimate crowd of thirty people who attended the performance at TivoliVredenburg in 2020. This proved successful, with several glowing reviews, an appearance on Podium Witteman, and a release tour in 2021.
