Kika Sprangers Quintet
With the Kika Sprangers Quintet they seamlessly blend wordless vocals (Anna Serierse) with saxophone, supported by a rich, dynamic rhythm section. Colouring Kika’s narrative compositions, intentionally unstructured and unexpected, pulling at the audience’s anticipations. Her style automatically and deceptively drags you along, yet remains unpredictable. Jazz music that sweeps from silence to symphonic proportions without resulting in kitschy cliches.

Kika Sprangers Large Ensemble
The Kika Sprangers Large Ensemble features some of the most outstanding soloists of the Dutch jazz scene and
represents the unique and strong sound of the young yet settled jazz musicians of the country. However Sprangers herself stands out in composing for this chamber jazz line-up, which includes the perfect blend of vocals with saxophones, bass clarinet, flute, and French horn, she is not scared to make space for the momentum where the musicians can let their improvisation skills flourish. The ensemble releases their new album (In)finity with a release show in Bimhuis December 7th 2024.

Kika Sprangers x Mikkel Ploug
During Kika’s two-year-residency at TivoliVredenburg Utrecht Kika invited a couple of her musical inspirations to record a duo album in the most beautiful hall of the venue. Playing duo is the most fragile and exciting thing she believes. One of the duos features Danish guitar player Mikkel Ploug. New music came out and was just released on DOX Records.
Kika Sprangers x Kit Downes

Alto for Two
The coming together of these two artists’, with their unique musical backgrounds, results in an eclectic and distinctive musical offering with a varied sound palette translated into the quintet format. Alto For Two will soon release their first album (Berthold Records), consisting of a new original repertoire demonstrating the artistic direction and evolution of the group.
