In Kika’s search for what makes us human, the new project river, river (2026) is her most personal work to date. Her new music reflects the river as a metaphor for humanity and the course of life: how it develops, flows, finds its own path, meanders, or rushes turbulently. Kika grew up by the river and feels deeply connected to this metaphor.

This concert series celebrates the release of the album of the same name, which the band recorded at Wisseloord Studios with producer Mete Erker and sound engineer Ted Masseurs. Together with her band members Anna Serierse, Koen Schalkwijk, William Barrett, and Wouter Kühne, she creates a sonic world that carries, overwhelms, and moves the listener. Anna Serierse’s mostly wordless voice blends effortlessly with Kika’s saxophone sound. On this new album, the band members interact seamlessly in emotionally charged playing with clear intention. The band has a strong collective sound that embraces the listener. Live, the music comes to life through adventurous interplay and improvisation.
